Arsene Wenger has branded Mesut Ozil as a world-class player, but he also feels that the German needs to score more goals in order to prove his worth to the rest of the world.

Ozil was signed from Real Madrid for more than £ 40 million and he is the club record signing for Arsenal. After a mediocre campaign with the gunners, he is starting to establish himself in the English league. The German has taken more time than many expected him to settle in the new league. Ozil proved his quality with a fine goal in the 2-0 win over German’s Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

His goal was crucial since it helped Arsenal get a victory against all the odds and it has also sparked a potential comeback in the group stages. After losses in the opening two games, Arsenal were looking at a huge wall in the form of Bayern Munich. Failure to win any one of those matches against the German outfit would have been game over as far as their hopes of qualification to the knockout stages are concerned. This victory now brings back belief within the Arsenal team, as they head to the Allianz Arena for the reverse fixture.

Ozil has scored only one league goal in nine appearances. More crucially, he has made seven goals for his teammates in these gamesand it lives up to his record in the first six months at Arsenal."A player of his calibre, you want him to add goals to his assists. He is world class. The most important thing is [the strikers] contribute goals. You have to accept no club in the world can play one striker for the whole season. You want to do well in the big games at home. We want to produce the same performance again," said Wenger about Ozil.
